Empowering God's Children® Safe Environment Program
Empowering God's Children® Safe Environment Program
It is our cherished role as adults to fully protect children. In addition, we must also teach children about their safety rights and boundaries, so that they have tools to protect themselves.
In an effort to assist in the monumental mission of protecting children from abuse, Holy Family Parish is presenting a safe environment lesson, entitled Empowering God’s Children, to all PREP students on Sunday, Dec. 10 during regular class time.
You have the ability to “opt out” of the formal in-person safety lesson if you only plan to provide safe environment education at home. Please complete and submit the opt-out form below only if you do NOT want your child to receive safe environment information via the PREP program. Children not partaking in the safety lesson will be given an alternative activity during the presentation.
Please take time to review the Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide booklet, which is the primary resource to parents provided through the new Protecting God's Children program.
The booklet is designed to help parents:
(1) have frank and effective conversations with their children about the dangers of child sexual abuse,
(2) educate their children about the warning signs of abuse, and
(3) better evaluate the safety of those who interact with their children.
As the primary educators of your children, parents and guardians are encouraged to review these materials ahead of time and discuss the information at home. If you have ever thought about how to empower children to protect themselves, fortify their boundaries, or increase their safety through in-person and online situations, then reviewing the lessons on your own to both begin and reiterate the message at home is the best next step to take.
